Mix 3 ¼ cup water in a bowl with food coloring. Adding more food coloring will cause more vibrant colors. (Using food coloring designed for cake decorating will create brighter color.) At this point, you can make scented dough by adding a package of unsweetened soft drink mix such as Kool-Aid. Make sure whatever flavor you choose matches the food coloring.

Pour colored water into a medium saucepan and add the YoHoHo Dough super secret recipe ingredients. Heat ingredients on the stove on medium to medium high heat.

Keep stirring the whole time it heats – treasure hunting does take some work! If you’ve been on land for too long and your arm gets tired from heave-ho'ing the dough, you can use what landlubbers call an electric mixer. Just be very careful when using the mixer and the stove together!

When it gets too stiff to stir, remove it from the heat. It will stiffen up more as it cools.

Let it cool in the pan for 5-10 minutes. Caution! Dough is HOT. Don’t touch it yet mateys!

After 5-10 minutes in the pan, place the dough on a cookie sheet in large serving spoon sized lumps to cool completely. Be aware that the center of the dough may still be hot. Once it’s cooled enough to be warm to the touch, you’re ready to create!

Store your Yohoho Dough in an average sized treasure chest. (If you don’t have one on hand, an airtight container will work just fine!)
